JAI 324 inspiration challenge - Thoughtful Branches for Spring

I almost missed Just Add Ink's inspiration pic challenge thanks to a busy week, but managed to sneak in completing a project in at the last minute, albeit with this delayed post. This is the pretty inspiration pic the lovely Trish challenged us with.

It's still very much Winter here in Sydney & I can't wait for Spring to arrive. This inspired me to use the inspiration pic colours & feel to create a Spring scene with a blossom covered tree.

Create a watercolour wash background.
1. Attach watercolour paper to largest stamp block using washi tape to create a masked edge & help keep the paper from warping when wet. This was a great tip shared here by SU CEO Sara Douglass.
2. Create ink palette to watercolour with. Add a drop of pool party & pear pizzazz ink refills to their respective ink pads. Usually I simply squeeze the inkpad lid to get ink to watercolour with. Using the reinker makes it easier to add more colour over a larger area.
3. Use aquapainter to pick up ink & wash over watercolour paper. Start with the sky (pool party), working from the deepest area near the horizon to the top. Leave to dry, then repeat for grass section (pear pizzazz). Be careful not to re-wet the pool party section as colours may bleed together.

Add a spring blossom tree
Cut the tree in kraft cardstock using the Thoughtful Branches bundle / Beautiful Branches thinlits. The kraft card has a lovely, warm, natural feel. Then attach little flowers  in rich razzleberry, sweet sugarplum & blushing bride (tree builder punch). Use

Flower tips:

For instant flower dimension, press flower centre with non-pointy end of the paper piercing tool.
Bling some flower centres with rhinestones & give the remainder glossy centres with a little drop of glue from the fine-tip glue pen.

Finishing touches
Stamp & silver emboss sentiment (Thoughtful Branches) & add some ribbon. Mount watercolour card on sweet sugarplum base. Let me know if you have any other questions

Now, you need to head over to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the gorgeous projects the team made for the challenge. We'd love you to make your own card using the challenge too.

I have lots more Thoughtful Branches cards to share this week once I get to photograph them.
Thanks for visiting today & remember to pin my card for later if you liked it.

Inky wishes, Di
