JAI 286 - Just add W

Our new challenge at Just Add Ink might make you wonder, wink, but hopefully not worry, as the lovely Tina has challenged us to make something to do with the letter W. This could be a colour, theme, supply, etc - anything to do with W.  Fun, huh? This is what I came up with:

Yes, my W is for window... but also wood (the congrats wood element) & an obvious one of whisper white card. I have some darling people in mind for this card, who so deserve a real life peaceful scene like this, so here's hoping I can send it to them in the next week or two (shhh for now).

I've realised while typing that there's no stamping on this card (gasp). I've used new dies from the Holiday Catalogue - Hearth & Home thinlits for the window frame (p.11) & Sleigh Ride edgelits for the grove of trees.  For the window, I cut 2 whole lost lagoon frames (1 popped on dimensionals) then another in white, cut up to leave the actual window. I used the 'Congrats' Expressions natural wood elements sentiment (a surprise obsession from the annual catalogue) on some banners to finish it off.

Well that's all for me for today. Thanks for visiting & leave a comment and/or pin my card if you've enjoyed my W project. Then make sure you head over to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the W's the team have used to come up with their wonderful projects.

Inky wishes, Di

PS: If you like the dies I used, also check out the co-ordinating 15% off bundles options also available with them - listed at the bottom of the supply list

More No-cut patterned paper folders & tutorial

As promised when I shared my Christmas poinsettia folder, I have some more no-cut patterned paper folders to share today and a tutorial so you can make them too. These are all the same size as this Christmas folder too.
Lighthearted Leaves in the Woods
First up is a folder made with paper from the Into the Woods pack. The two bold patterns played together nicely with each other & a maple image from the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set coloured with Stampin' Write markers (pear pizzazz, tangelo twist & daffodil delight). I used some thick bakers twine instead of ribbon.
I coloured a smaller image on the insert cards, together with images from the fab B.Y.OP. stamp set - fantastic for gift giving.
Here's one more pic showing the inside without the cards. I really liked how the 2 patterns worked together. What do you think?

Bohemian Teen Graduate
This folder is the same size as the others, but I've decorated it to have a landscape orientation. I've used paper from the Bohemian dsp pack & this one really illustrates my fave pattern combination for these folders - a bold pattern teamed with a coordinating small print. The sentiment is equally bold - again from the B.Y.O.P. stamp set, which as you can now see means Buy Your Own Present. I think this is a great sentiment to use for a teen or fun loving adult.
I've used a co-ordinated sentiment on the card inserts. I also attached a fake gift card so you can see how I usually display them. To attach the gift card, I added a little squiggle of tombow glue on the insert, then left it to dry. Once dry, it remains tacky to the touch & works like a temporary bond. Alternatively, you could just include a little pocket on the card to slip the gift card in.
Here's a final pic of the inside without the cards. See how well the patterns work together. Love!

No-cut Patterned Paper Folder Tutorial
So now you've seen more folders I've made a full tutorial you can download & start your own folder obsession.  This includes a step by step photo tutorial, template, tips for choosing your paper & lots of project pics. You'll see how simple it is to do....& maybe addictive too.

Download Tip: when the document opens, choose the download option (icon with a down pointing arrow & horizontal line), not the share option. Thanks for your help.
These pics show the tutorial pages. Please don't download these though as they're just small .jpg images to show you what's included :-)

A little request - This tutorial took time to put together so if you choose to use it & share a project, I'd really appreciate if you could link back to this post so others can enjoy it too. If you do share your own, I'd love you to to leave a comment too.

Thanks again to Andrea Hayes for sharing the original tutorial I adapted. It's much appreciated.

I hope you like my projects & the tutorial. Remember to comment & pin some pics for later inspiration. If you have any q's just leave a comment. Here are some collages of today's folders to make pinning easier.

Well that's all from me today. Thanks for visiting & hope to see you here again soon.
Inky wishes, Di
