Simple Father’s Day cards plus...

So, did you think I'd dropped off the face of the earth? I'm finally back with the other Father's Day card we made at my August classes. As the Day's Day Wallet we made at the same class had a lot of steps, I made the second project really quick & simple but with a flexible layout, so the girls could make it up in different ways or choose a greeting other than for Father's Day.

Over the 2 classes, I made 3 variations using the same card, paper & ink with different greetings & layouts. Here are my 3 variations...
All the cards have a sage shadow base (stamped with the canvas background stamp either at 'full strength' or stamped off on scrap first), teamed with always artichoke, soft sky card & a gorgeous striped paper from the 'Wintergreen' pack. I couldn't resist adding a little celery grosgrain ribbon to reflect the celery stripe in the paper (I know – any excuse!). There's also either always artichoke or celery brads too. As for the greetings, 'happy Father's day' & 'kind & wonderful friend' are from 'Occasional Greetings', 'Wonderful Father' is from 'Wonderful Favourites' & 'Happy Birthday' is from 'Cheery Chat'.

On the way to making the class cards, I made a couple more using the Wintergreen paper &/or a similar layout, which I thought you might like to see.The diagonal striped paper I used here is also from the Wintergreen pack.....& how well does the blue bayou double stitched ribbon look with it? Who knew?

This is a super simple version of the layout, this time with celery card, Wintergreen paper & no brads or ribbon & lots of distressed edges.Finally, I've been dying to try out some yummy 'Apple Cider' paper from the Spring Mini, so I made this one. I added some copper eyelets which I think work really well with the really rust card & paper. I really liked this one & so did all the girls at the class.
Bits & Pieces:

• Keeping brads in line: I used the piercing template from the Mat Pack to make the 3 holes for the brads, to ensure keep them in line & evenly spaced.
• Wintergreen paper: This is actually Christmas themed paper, but many of the patterns look great anytime, so I think it's going to get a good workout well before Christmas comes too.

So, next time you need some quick cards, see how many different layouts you can come up with with the same pieces. You might find a new favourite in there.
