Friday means a new challenge at Just Add Ink & this week Rochelle wants us to Just Add Ombre. I've really been enjoying using the ombre look on cards lately so I definitely enjoyed this challenge. This is what I made.
First I created an ombre look background on some Irresistibly Floral
paper with my ombre secret weapon, the sponge brayer, pool party &
mint macaron ink. The embossed patterns on the paper give an added
element of interest which I really like. I chose the diamond patterned paper as I thought the shape
would work well with the balloons.
Speaking of the balloons, the large die cut balloon (Lift Me Up - Up & Away stamp & die bundle) also has an ombre look with more than a little clear Wink of Stella. I sponge brayered white card with flirty flamingo & pink pirouette ink then cut the balloon out. I also added a die cut foam layer backed with a watermelon wonder balloon (cut with the coordinating balloon dies in the set).
I also stamped two small balloon in flirty flamingo on pink pirouette card & added a little sponging to one of them.
The sentiment is also from the same Lift Me Up - Up & Away bundle. I stamped this on white card & brayered in mint macaron. Yes, I'm obsessed with the brayer.
I carried the ballon & ombre theme to the inside too.
If you like the sponge brayered look, take a look at this balloon pop up birthday card, & this floral card. I'll be featuring this in upcoming classes too if you're local to me.
The Just Add Ink team have included ombre in all sorts of projects this week so head over to the JAI blog for a look & try the challenge yourself.
I'll be back next time with more ideas for you to try. If you'd like to create your own hot air balloon cards, you'll can see & order all the supplies I used below. Remember to pin my card for later inspiration too.
Inky wishes, Di

Fabulous card Di. The ombre background over the Irresistibly Floral DSP is gorgeous. Love the transition from Pool Party to Mint Macaron. The ombre on the hot air balloon die is beautiful touch. Love it. Rochelle xo
ReplyDeleteThe diamond pattern in the background is really striking Di and I love how you carried the ombre effect through to the balloons as well. The colour transitions are gorgeous! xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Di! I love the effect of the diamond pattern in your background and your seamless colour blending. (You'll be pleased to know I've added the Breyer to my latest order :-)) And the colour you've added to your balloons is so pretty too! xx

ReplyDeleteDi, this is so beautiful! I love your use of colour, and inks - and you're right about that diamond-patterned background. It looks awesome.
