It's new Just Add Ink challenge time and this week we have to ...
I was able to combine the challenge with a project from last weekend's class, which serendipitously was cards for little Kids & babies. So of course my K is for Kids. This sweet little card with a surprise pop up inside is what I made.
I just adore the sweet little animals in the A Little Wild stamp set and they were perfect for my little kids card. Choosing whether to use the little lion, bear, or elephant was my hardest choice, but luckily a fun and easy pop-up surprise inside the card enabled me to use them all.
The animals are coloured the animals with Stampin' Blends markers with coordinating colours in the Twinkle Twinkle dsp, then cut out with the coordinating Little Loves die set. As the dies are designed to cut out a tag of the animal back & front, there's a tiny bit of fussy cutting but it's very quick to do. These are the colours I used.
Lion - ivory, bronze & calypso coral
Bear - pool party
Elephant - soft sea foam & petal pink
Back to the pop up though, I saw this fab pop up style here on Dawn Griffith's blog and loved it. At the moment, I'm all about simple wows at the moment and I think this pop up definitely fits the bill. It's so easy to do and uses minimal supplies.
Make a basic pop up
- Cut a strip of paper the same width as your card inside and a height to suit your decorative elements.
I used 21 x 2.5cm as my card is regular half A4 size.
- Fold strip in half, then fold each end in half again in the opposite direction.
- Place adhesive on each end section of the strip (where elephant & bear are in pic) and adhere to inside of card.
- Decorate the pop up with whatever you'd like.
Dawn included a video in her post if you like visual instructions or want to work in inches.
To finish my pop up section I adhered the second smallest Stitched Shapes square to each section then added the animal. I used a sentiment from the Little Elephant stamp set inside the square. The other sentiments are from the Treehouse Adventures set.
Back to the front of the card, I used my fave Celebrate You die, Twinkle Twinkle dsp and the Layered Leaves embossing folder with the retired Large Numbers dies.
Thanks for visiting today. So that's my Just Add K challenge card. Check out the Just Add Ink blog to see all the team's K projects too. I'll be back next time with more sweet ideas for kids & babies.
If you'd like to make your own version of my card, check out the supply lists below to get what you need. Ask away if you have any questions.
Happy stamping & inky wishes
