JAI 488 Just Add Ink celebration blog hop

Hello hello & welcome!
I'm excited to share my project for our first Just Add Ink challenge of 2020.

Even more exciting, it's Just Add Ink's 10th anniversary and we're having a celebration themed blog hop to... celebrate!
You may have arrived here from the lovely Rachael Lewsley's blog or some other way. Welcome!

It's amazing to think Just Add Ink has been sharing creative inspiration for a decade - 488 challenges so far! Thanks so much to JAI founders, all past and present team members and challenge participants for sharing with us all.

It's also my 5th anniversary as part of the JAI Design Team so that's a reason for me to celebrate too. Time flies!

I hope you'll hop along with us and play along with the challenge to use the theme and image to make your own celebration project. You could even win a prize. See the Just Add Ink blog post along the hop for all the info you need.

Here's my celebration hop project.

I made a birthday card for a friend and SU teamie - birthdays are definitely a big cause for celebration in my book. I used some new to me stamps - Seaside Notions, Birch and Peaceful Moments, and used the colours and layout of the challenge image as my inspiration.

I stamped all the images in basic gray on thick whisper white card, then coloured the sea elements with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. Colours are listed below. I mixed colours and shades to give lots more colour blending options.

Change a sentiment - The stamp sentiment (from Peaceful Moments) says 'wishing you every happiness this special day will bring'. I wanted to remove the last section to better fit my card.
To do this, I masked off the bottom line with some washi, inked up the sentiment then removed the washi before stamping it. Bonus - it perfectly fitted one of the Stitched Rectangle dies.

Details
Can you see the subtle water-like detail on the centre stitched rectangle panel? (Click on the pics for a bigger view). I stamped the Birch background stamp with pool party ink then used sponge brayer to add a graduated colour layer - also with pool party. It's popped up with dimensionals and there's also a layer of soft sea foam and pool party card behind it.

I've also embossed the front and centre front panels with mt fave Subtle 3d embossing folder. The old style Subtle dynamic folder  - which has exactly the same pattern - is currently on the Clearance Rack (Aus) for just $10.20 so if you don't have it, get it now before stocks run out. I've listed both models below.

Inside I've used the Birch stamp again - this time in sponged on Sahara Sand ink - with random lines of pool party Stampin' Blends on top. The sentiment is from Peaceful Moments & the little sea shell is also from Seaside Notions.

To finish it off, some of my fave sequins from the Woven Threads sequin pack - to give the look of little air bubbles and of course clear Wink of Stella (which I added after pics).

Well that's it from me for the hop. Thanks for visiting and hopping along with us all.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my card & got some ideas to try. All the supplies I've used are listed below. Remember to pin my project on Pinterest before you hop on too.

Next up on our Just Add Ink Celebration blog hop is the fabulous Narelle Farrugia with a card you're sure to love.

Happy stamping & inky wishes,
Di
