JAI 600 inspiration challenge - leafy thanks

Handmade thank you card made with Stampin' Up! Stitched Leaves dies, Stitched Shapes dies, Peaceful Moments stamp set. Card by Di Barnes - Independent Demonstrator in Sydney Australia - colourmehappy - just add ink - card challenges

Hello & welcome. Today I'm sharing a project for Just Add Ink's 600th challenge. A major milestone worth celebrating.

The inspiration image has lots of lovely details and texture but did challenge me, as the colours are not my fave choices. That said, the leaves reminded me of the beautiful Stitched Leaves dies so I've used these to create a card that fits the challenge in my style. I hope you like what I made.

I chose a clean take on the leaves and stripes in the image. The sentiment is from the every useful Peaceful Moments stamp set. Do you love the stitched details on the leaves as much as I do? I made the maple leaf the star, cutting it in gold brushed metallic cardstock. It's hard to capture the lovely subtle lines sheen IRL.

Sadly the Stitched Leaves dies and the coordinating Love of Leaves stamp set are retiring. The stamp set is sold out (in Aus) but the good news is that Stitched Leaves dies are still available and they're 50% off - only $30.50 (plus s&h). Take a closer look at the pic below for all the options you get in the set. I've made a couple more cards using them in different ways that I'll share next time.

If you can't recall the striped paper I've used for the background it's because it's a very old print. I was looking through my huge stash of paper for some Easter prints & by a happy coincidence the pack I found was still out when I started thinking about the challenge. I thought the stripe was a fresh take on the image colours, and stripes and leaves/florals always work in my mind. Of course embossing it with the Timber embossing folder made it even better. ;)

I hope you're inspired in some way by my challenge card. Head to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the different ideas the Design Team have come up with, and then try the challenge too. We'd love to see what you make.

Thanks for visiting today. Next time I'll share some other leafy projects. In the meantime, don't miss out on getting the Stitched Leaves dies at 50% off - see the supply list to shop my store.

Happy stamping & inky wishes
Di

  1. I love your take on this challenge, my friend! The crisp white elements look beautiful with the starring gold foil leaf, and I really like that you embossed that gorgeous striped paper to give it texture. Lovely card. x

    1. Thanks so much, my friend for your encouraging comment. I wasn’t sure it was going to come together but the foil leaf was I think the finishing touch it needed.
      Hugs, Di
