Hello & welcome. Today's project is my team card for the latest Just Add Ink sketch challenge. I do love a hexagon so this was a fun sketch to play with.
Early Christmas card prep is on my mind to avoid the mad December rush. I realised the snowflake stamps in my new Joyful Flurry stamp and die bundle and formed hexagon shapes. I paired them with the hexagon dies in the Beautiful Shapes die set to create my card. I did play around with the hexagon elements in the sketch but I'm sure you can see it. Here's how it turned out.
Card Elements:
- Embossed base: The Wintry 3d snowflake embossing folder is a half size folder, so I needed 2 passes to emboss the Starry Sky base (did I mention I just adore this colour?). I made the base top-folding so it was easy to emboss.
The good thing with that was I could be fussy with the placement of the card so the large snowflake was placed where I wanted it.
PS: Did you realise this folder coordinates with the Joyful Flurry stamp set images? - Emboss resist snowflakes: Stamped on white with VersaMark then heat embossed in white, then die cut with the nested hexagon dies (Beautiful Shapes). Finished off with a blended inked background using Blending Brushes, Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky ink.
- Sentiment: The 'Happy Christmas' is from the Joyful Flurry set too. It's stamped in Starry Sky and cut out with a fab banner die from the coordinating Frosted Flurry dies.
- Finishing Touches: Sequins and Wink of Stella add required Christmas sparkle.
Inside: Two more sentiments from the Joyful Flurry stamp set, a sweet little snowflake, and more sequins.
Take a closer look at the Joyful Flurry bundle and Wintry 3d embossing folder set. So many more possibilities to play with. I'm sure you'll see the pine folder on another card soon too.
So that's my sketch challenge card. Head to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the different cards the team has created with it too.
Thanks for visiting today and I hope my card has given you some ideas to try. I have some more Christmas projects to share as soon as I can photograph them. You'll find all the supplies used here on my Stampin' Up! store project page.
Happy stamping and inky wishes
