Hello and welcome to a new project share for this week's colour challenge at Just Add Ink design team. I thought the combination of Fresh Freesia, Berry Burst, Pretty Peacock, and gold suggested by Rochelle could be tricky, but they really work nicely together.
I chose to use the sweet and whimsical Just My Type stamp to create a fun fold card - apparently called an expanding accordion card. I teamed the stamp images with a handmade striped background made of card strips in each of the challenge colours. Here's how it turned out.
The typewriter and paper images are stamped with Pretty Peacock. I stamped the florals in Smoky Slate then coloured them with Stampin' Blends in each challenge colour. The Slate gives a light outline to colour that lets the colours shine. The For You is also from Just My Type, stamped in Berry Burst.
The next element is the striped background. I cut long strips of different widths in each of the challenge colours, plus white, adhered them to a copy paper base using an Adhesive Sheet. I then cut the piece into strips to fit the accordion sections of the card.
Finally that fabulous, fun, fancy fold - an expanding accordian card. One of my dear card making friends, Leesa, gave me a lovely birthday card last month with this fold and I knew I had to try it myself. She said she'd found this fab card and post by US Demo, Lisa Curcio, which you can check out too. You can also see my friend's beautiful card at the bottom of the post.
I used my friend Leesa's card to figure out the card structure. I simplified the base and made it fit our A4 card and C6 envelopes in Australia, and the images I used, so my card is slightly taller and narrower. You can see the fold clearer in this pic.
Here's how it looks flat too - you can really see that fun custom striped background in this one.
The main base has just four score lines. The typewriter panel fits between the accordion pieces with the scoreline matching the one below.
Finally a weird angle view from above to see how the two base pieces work together.
This really is a simple fold with lots of wow. I hope you'll have a try too. Let me know if you'd like me to work on a template or tutorial, and I'll add it to my list.
I hope you liked my colour challenge project and that it inspires you to try the colours, fold, striped background or colouring. Head to the Just Add Ink blog to see all our team projects for the colour challenge.
You'll find all the supplies you need to make my version here or below.
Thanks again for visiting today.
Until next time, happy stamping.
Di
PS: Before I go, here's the fab card by Leesa that inspired me so much. Her paper choices - a retired SU pack work so beautifully together. Thanks, Leesa for both the card and inspiration.
