JAI 411 sketch challenge - delightfully floral birthday

It's sketch challenge time at Just Add Ink this week and who doesn't love a good sketch. Jan has given us this fun one to play with...

... and this is what I made using some of my new faves, from our new Annual catalogue which startes TODAY. Yippee!!

This card is really all about that totally amazingly gorgeous Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut specialty paper. I cut up two pieces from the 12x12 sheet (yes I actually cut it up!) & adhered it, first to the pool party stitched square, then the large navy piece.

Tip: To adhere the laser cut paper mess-free, place the piece front down onto some scrap card or non-stick adhesive backing sheet, and sponge Tombow multi-purpose liquid adhesive onto the back. This gives a light, thin coating that won't ooze out under the delicate paper.

The flowers on the smaller paper piece above the sentiment are popped up so they overlap the frame. I've topped three of the flowers with a glitter enamel dot coloured with the dark Night of Navy Stampin' Blends marker. I've used little normal pearls on some of the other flowers. I love the look of the stitched on the pool party square & white frame.

I added some more glitz to the square frame made with the Stitched Shapes dies, by adding mitred glitter washi tape inside the stitch line. It was wider than the frame so I just pushed the excess under the edge.

The sentiment is from a brilliant new stamp & punch bundle called Varied Vases. As the name suggests, it includes a bunch of mix and match vases & flowers, and useful sentiments in a lovely handwritten look script. You'll be seeing lots more of this shortly & I think it's one you'll have to have in your collection.

Inside, I've kept it simple with another little piece of the Delightfully Detailed paper & sentiment from Varied Vases.

I really enjoyed using this challenge sketch and think you will too. Check out all the JAI team's creations on the JAI blog for more ideas and then try it yourself. Remember to pin my project for later too.

Thanks for visiting today. Hope you've enjoyed seeing my card & that it gives you some ideas to try yourself. I have another card to share using the Delightfully Detailed paper which I'll share soon once it's arrived at it's destination.

Happy stamping & inky wishes
Di
