My darling man celebrated a special '0' birthday last week on our
Hawaii holiday so of course I had to make him a card to celebrate and remind him of how loved he is. Another double easel card was just the thing as he really liked this Christmas double easel card, so this is what I came up with.
When flat it looks like a normal card - and would still look great that way using just the Broadway Bound foiled dsp teamed with the die cut words in black & silver foil. You may be surprised how few supplies it needs. See bottom of post to check.
But it's just so fun as a double easel too.
The celebrate is attached so half overlaps the edge. I cut & adhered multiple cuts of all the words (using our DSP backing sheets) to help them pop and be more sturdy.
The main base is a regular top folding card (black) with a slightly smaller base (smoky slate) attached to the front - which is folded back to form the second easel.
Here's how the whole front looks unfolded.
You can see here how the smaller smoky slate piece attaches to the front of the black base. The foiled patterned paper pieces from the fabulous Broadway Bound pack is all you need to add for a luxe graphic look.
I decorated both inside pages with more paper and black foil sentiment (happy birthday die).
Finally here's a view from the side.
Darling man loved his card... I think especially because it had no big '0' number on it. If you'd like to include a number, you could easily add it to the bottom right of the words.
I think you could use this card for lots of special occasions other than birthdays too - like a graduation or a promotion. I hope you'll try the fold yourself too, as it's so easy and fun to make & decorate. Leave a comment if you have any questions or suggestions for me or other visitors, or if you just liked the card.
I have some more Broadway Bound cards to share that I forgot to share when I made them so keep an eye out for those too. You can order all the items you need to make your own from me too, by following the links below.
Happy stamping & inky wishes,
Di

That's a fantastic card Di! Glad your husband loved it too! How exciting that you went to Hawaii - I loved visiting the big island when I was there many years ago. Sherylee.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I'm one of those people who just don't understand great directions! I see the card base is Basic Black card stock cut at 4 1/2" X 11", fold at 5 1/2". I think cut Smokey Slate at 4 1/8" X 6 or 8"? Then fold back about 2" and adhere inside 4 1/4" X 11" base at inside bottom? I really don't think I have it. I've got the Meant To Be Bundle and wanted to use this card basre to make my husband of 47 years an anniversay card! Am I anywhere near the right formula? Is their someone on Pinterest that could help me out with this? I just thought you might to busy?

Hi Gloria, thanks for your message.
DeleteI think you’ve sort of got it.
Have a look at this fabulous post by Patty Bennett, as it shows exacty what you need to cut and score if you’re using US sized card.
Patty also has a video showing how to put it together which may be helpful too.
