We were thrilled to recently celebrate the wedding of a dear family
friend and his beautiful bride and so an extra special card was in order
for this wonderful couple. After much thought I chose to make a pretty
and elegant, and larger than normal sized card with the gorgeous Poppy
Moments die set.
You'll spot some new catalogue purchases too and a couple or retired ones too. Soft Sea Foam, Smoky Slate and white are one of my favourite colour combinations for soft, elegant cards so that's where I started. Here's how it turned out.

The card front is 12.5 x 17.5cm (5 x 7 inches), which gave lots of space for the gorgeous poppies. I made a custom envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.
I used both the large poppy and side facing poppy, with white card and
vellum for my poppy flowers, and white and smoky slate for the leaves.
Poppy Moments dies is such a fab floral set. It includes 2 flower and leaf options with solid
and outline shapes, plus centres and other supporting shapes.
I layered 3 large poppies and 2 side facing poppies and the sentiment circle onto a embossed white matting layer, embossed with the new and beautiful Fern embossing folder.
The sentiments on the front and inside is from the retired Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.
And did you spot the pierced circle? It's from the fabulous new must-have - Stylish Shapes die set. There are nested circles, squares and banners in the set and all include piercing inside and out of the cut. I've layered this on a Smoky Slate circle cut with one of the Layering Circles die set.
Take a closer look at both the Stylish Shapes dies and Fern embossing folder - click on the pics for a larger view. You'll find shopping links to purchase both items and all other project supplies here in my Stampin' Up! store.
Inside I carried the theme over with another layered side poppy and leaf placed around two more sentiment stamps on a layered mat.
Glittered organdy ribbon and clear Opal Rounds embellishments add delicate details to the card
I coloured the white ribbon with a Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends marker - It's so easy to do, and the colour dries almost instantly. You'll never be without a coordinating ribbon with this trick.

So there you have my special wedding card for a wonderful couple. I hope
it gives you some ideas to try for your next wedding card or other occasion. Try changing up the poppy colours for a different look

Oh my goodness - so elegant, so soft, so beautiful! I love how you've combined all the elements on this gorgeous card, my friend. The poppies look so pretty in vellum, overlaid with white card die-cut detail. Lots to love about this card, celebrating love.
ReplyDeleteThat is simply stunning Di! And I am in need of a card to celebrate a major Wedding Anniversary milestone so this is lovely inspiration. Sherylee.
