Hello & welcome! Today is Sending Smiles bundle post 4 and my team project for Just Add Ink challenge 619. This week's challenge is to create a masculine card. It's Father's Day in Australia this Sunday so perfect time for anyone looking for guy card inspo.
I went with a tropical sunset scene birthday card with a blended ink background - yes I'm pretty obsessed with them and sunsets at the moment. Take a look.

This is the type of card I'd make for my darling man, friends or family. What is a 'masculine' card anyway? Truth be told, I tend to make cards for the actual person & what I think they'd like rather than any definition. I think my card is pretty neutral and can think of many people I'd give it to.
Ink background - I masked off the setting sun with a die cut circle mask, then used Blending Brushes with Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Poppy Parade & a tiny bit of Night of Navy to create the sunset.
Sending sentiment - I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy then coloured it with light & dark Tahitian Tide Stampin' Blends to create some graduated colour.
Tropical details - The die cut Palm trees and border add some touches to remind me of trips to Hawaii. Inside I've kept it simple but interesting with a couple more die cuts from the Palms set. I love the Sahara Sand (base) with the Night of Navy elements.
Well that's just made be want to get away to a tropical island, but I'll have to content myself with the beautiful sunsets and sunrises we've been having in Sydney through Winter. Hopefully they'll continue.
I hope my card has inspired you to create your own sunset or palms card for a loved one. Once you're finished here, head to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the team's projects.
To create your own version, check out the full supply list here in my store to see what you'll need. I'll be back to share more Sending Smiles cards.

Love the colour scheme and your blended background Diane.
ReplyDeleteYour card is awesome, Di! The rich inked background with the palms over the top makes me think of retro surfie clothing. The colours are amazing.
