Hello and welcome. Friday means it's time to share my Just Add Ink challenge project with you. This week's challenge is to make a card using two of three possible elements (Brights, Foliage, or Friend).
I chose foliage and friend, making a soft and pretty thinking of you card for a friend, using the Dainty Delight dies, Layering Leaves stamp set and lots of embossing. Here's how it turned out.
I chose foliage and friend, making a soft and pretty thinking of you card for a friend, using the Dainty Delight dies, Layering Leaves stamp set and lots of embossing. Here's how it turned out.
I wanted to use the beautiful curved stem die from the Dainty Delight die set as the main focal point and my foliage challenge element, so I started by cutting it from a rectangle of white card, and stamping the sentiment in Basic Grey (from Layering Leaves - my go to for all occasion cards).
The white panel is embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder, (twice actually - I moved it on the second pass to make the pattern less distinct). However it does looks much more distinct and the sentiment less so in the pic than in real life (the result of poor light and high ISO photography I think).
I applied Dimensionals to the back and mounted it on a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock, to create some shadow. I embossed the base panel with the crosshatch pattern from the Basics embossing folder pack.
A second curved, floral stem (Dainty Delight) in Soft Sea Foam card with some highlights of Stampin' Blends markers in light and dark Soft Sea Foam is offset on top of the panelSome pearls finished off the stem.
Some hindsight observations before I go on. The retired Subtle embossing folder would have been my usual and I think more subtle patter choice for the white panel. I also wish I'd left off the three flowers. I initially thought they added some more subtle detail but I think now that they detract from the pretty stem. Maybe I'll make version two with those differences, as I need another thinking of you card to.
Meanwhile, inside I've repeated themes from the front. I do love that stem.
So that's my Choose Two challenge card. While some things didn't quite turn out like I'd imagined, I like the idea. Most importantly, I have a finished card that can be sent to the recipient to hopefully brighten their day, and share with you so you can try it too.
Head to the Just Add Ink blog to see all our team challenge projects and to share your own challenge project. Would love to see what you create.
If you'd like to try your own version of my card, take a look at the full supply list here in my store, where you can order what you need.
Thanks for visiting today.
Until next time, happy stamping.
