Exciting news - Just Add Ink design team

In the midst of much Christmas creating, I'm excited to share the news that I'll be joining the lovely girls at the Just Add Ink Challenge Blog as a Design Team member from January 2015.

I'm sure many of you are already familiar with Just Add Ink but if not, you're in for a treat. Each week a new papercrafting challenge is issued on the blog -  this could be based on a sketch, colour combination, theme, technique, or inspiration pic etc. The Design Team share projects they've created based on the challenge, then you can create your own project & link it to the challenge too. Fun! I've been inspired by the team's awesome creations for such a long time so I'm really looking forward to starting the challenges, getting to know the girls better, learning more & sharing lots too.

So, check out JAI's current & past challenges here & keep an eye on my blog for my first official challenge in January.

I'll be back to share some more Christmas creations too...hopefully before Christmas is upon us!

Festival of Trees for World Card Making Day

As promised, I'm sharing more Christmas projects using the Festival of Trees bundle. We made these at my World Card Making Day event on October 4th... & what an extra special day it was. A very dear friend just returned home to Aus after a long time overseas & surprised me by joining the class. Thank goodness my class lovelies who came are awesome cardmakers, as I was more than a little emotional & distracted at seeing her after so long. Anyway, in between hugs, much chatter & delicious treats we made this card...
I saw this fabulous card by Kimberly Van Diepen in the week before the class & just loved it, so made my own variation. Thanks so much for the inspiration Kimberly. I carried the tree theme to the inside & used the great sentiments from the Wondrous Wreath set.

Scalloped Tag Topper Box
I like to surprise my class gals with little extras, so we also made this surprise matching box...
This was a very last minute addition after I saw this great box tutorial by Simone Bartrum on my Pinterest travels. I followed the tute measurements exactly & decorated the top to match the card. Here is how it looks open. Perfect for a tealight candle, choccie treat, jewellery & lots more.

I think everyone enjoyed making their projects & I certainly loved spending the afternoon with them too. Thanks very much for visiting today & hope you like the projects. If you have any questions or just want to say hi, just leave me a comment.
Inky wishes, Di

Natural Festival of Trees Christmas

It's a thunder-stormy evening here in Sydney & Harry, my scared little fur-baby is curled up shaking beside me. So, what could I do but keep sitting beside him & type a blog post. Hopefully, you're happy about that too :-)
Today's cards came from my first play with Festival of Trees back in September (oops). This is one of my fave Holiday Catalogue stamp & punch bundles. If the card looks familiar to you, it's because I adapted it from a lovely sample in the catalogue.
I used our Naturals White cardstock for the base & dotty tree, which created a little more rustic look & traditional red-green combination. I had some scraps left so I made this little simple one too.
So, what do you think? Do you like the natural look?  If not, this would work equally well with regular whisper white. That's all for me today as dinner must be made, but I have another Festival of Trees card to share next time. Until then...

Ridiculously amazing teen birthday

Taking a mini break from Christmas today to share a fun teen birthday card I made for an equally fun & sweet friend of Cara's. I somehow I forgot to post it before, but better late than never I say so here it is now!
It's a very tall & quite narrow card (21cm or about 8-1/4 inches from memory). I was playing with the fun images from Amazing Birthday & the banner just got longer & longer. I also snuck in the Happy Birthday images from Hey You (a hidden gem in the Annual Catalogue). I stamped the main design in multiple colours & cut different pieces out to make my own design. Some pieces are popped on dimensionals to help them stand out too. You can see them better here (click for a bigger pic if you want to see more).
Thanks for visiting today & I hope this gives you some ideas of how to combine images to make your own look. Until next time,
Inky wishes, Di

Bright & beautiful star shaped card

Today's share is a Christmas star shaped card made with the Bright & Beautiful stamp set & star framelits. I was going to share this card with my first star card, but realised just before I posted that some pearls had tried to run away. Now I realise if I photograph the card again you'll never see it, so please forgive my slightly wonky pearls. This card was based on this lovely by Sandi MacIver.

The star images were embossed in white, then sponged it with marina mist ink to add depth. I also sponged the marina mist card base, sentiment tag with marina mist ink too. The pearls add a little more (wayward) pretty. The sentiment is from Good Greetings, which is no longer available, but it would be easy to substitute if you didn't get this fab freebie last month.

Thanks for visiting & leave a comment if you have any more questions about the card. I'll be back soon with another project.
