Hello & welcome. Today I'm sharing a new to me 3d fancy fold card that makes me very happy and hope that it makes the recipient smile too. This is my Design Team project for this week's Just Add Ink challenge - Just Add a Frame.
I haven't made many 3d & fancy fold cards lately but when I spotted the lovely Patty Bennett's Pinwheel Tower cards & tutorial, I knew it would be perfect to send to a dear friend who also loves a fancy fold. It's surprisingly easy to make, especially thanks to Patty's tips. I adapted the size of my card to work better with A4 card & metric measurements. It's approx 21cm x 14.5cm folded flat.
I've used lots of my current & new fave stamps and dies to make it, including the Biggest Wish stamp set, Stitched Greenery die and Pierced Blooms dies. If you've seen my recent cards, you'll have spotted some too.
This is a super photo heavy post so let's get started with a look at the finished card.
Hello! This week's new challenge at Just Add Ink is to create a thinking of you project, which couldn't be a simpler challenge or more appropriate right now. I'm sure you can think of lots of people to send your card to. This is what I made.
My plans for Festive Friday posts & making my Christmas cards each
month haven't been happening for various reasons. Today I have a little
time to blog and have just seen some of my favourite Christmas goodies
on my SU store Clearance Rack, so Festive Tuesday it is.
Today
I'm sharing a couple of my favourite Christmas projects from last year. Both show my favourite element for Christmas cards & gifts - shine. First up is this clean and elegant Christmas card with my favourite reindeer stamp from Santa's Sleigh.
Did you see the star quilt birthday card I made for the sweetest 1 year old? Today I'm sharing the project that inspired that card - a framed star quilt for the birthday girl. Stella means star so the star quilt square from the Christmas Quilt bundle was perfect.
Today I'm sharing more sweet succulent projects using the Oh So Succulent stamp & die bundle. I'm still in shock that this lovely bundle is NOT carrying over to the new catalogue. It's so fun & easy to create stamped succulent clusters and lifelike versions too. These projects were class projects in March.
Window box tri-fold card
How cute would a sweet-sugarplum coloured house be? I don't
think I could convince my darling man, but I can create pretty card
versions at least.
I've created a vellum lined window & window box using the Hearth
& Home die set then filled the box with pretty succulents. All line
images are stamped in tip top taupe & solid stamped in mint macaron,
sweet sugarplum, pear pizzazz, & sahara sand. I'm a huge agave
plant fan too so I added a partial one on the ground to complete the
scene. These are all 'clear Wink of Stella'd but hard to see in pic.
To make the tri fold base, I started with a full A4 sheet of sweet sugarplum card, cut it down to 15cm wide, then scored at 10cm &
20cms to make 3 panels. These measurements means the last panel is slightly smaller & folds
perfectly back inside the card without overlapping the main fold.
On the middle panel I added a piece of the truly gorgeous Succulent Garden paper - another big fave (& a total bargain now for just $11.55).
Opening the middle panel reveals more pretty succulents & plenty of space for a message.
and open, viewed from the back.
You know when you finish a card & it just makes you happy? This was one of those. :)
Succulent hexagon box
After catching the paper succulent bug with my succulent pop up slider card, I wanted to share the fun with my class lovelies too. So I made this hexagon box decorated with succulents.
I just love hexagons - don't know why, I just do - so I was very excited to see the Window Box thinlits bundle
I used to make them are carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue in June. The hexagon box base is made with crumb cake card, wrapped around with some more Succulent Garden dsp. I also cut a hexagon of white card to strengthen the lid to support the succulents. Here's another view.
Succulent Recipes Large: 6 succulent dies (1 of each size) cut in mint macaron, sponged over with mint macaron ink & edges sponged in rich razzleberry ink Medium mint: 5 dies (all except largest) cut in mint macaron, sponged in white &edges sponged in sweet sugarplum. Medium sugarplum: 5 dies (all except largest) sponged in sweet sugarplum ink. I burnished all succulent edges & centres to add dimension & separated the largest 2 layers with dimensionals.
So, are you a succulent convert yet? If you are, you'll be pleased to know that the Oh So Succulent stamp set & Succulents die set are each 20% off, & the Succulent Garden dsp is 40% off during our Retiring List offers. All these items are only available while stocks last so get in quick

It's all go in the Barnes household due to some much needed garden renovating happening while my darling man is on leave. Sadly this means no stamping for me this week... & my latest order has just arrived too :(
However, I want to share this project with you - an easel post-it calendar I made for my lovely Diamond Stampers team members.
My friend & Just Add Ink teamie, Patrice made me a lovely easel calendar last year which I loved, so I thought it would be a fun gift to make. I added a post-it-note (sticky note) pad to the bottom of mine, as who doesn't love a post-it? They're certainly one of my stationery geek obsessions.
Of course I HAD to play with some new goodies from the Occasions Catalogue, so I used the large intricate balloon & backing dies from the new Up & Away die set (part of the Lift Me Up stamp & die bundle) with the coordinating Carried Away paper pack. Carried Away is a Sale-a-bration exclusive you can get FREE with each $90 purchase until 31 March, it's not available for regular purchase.
Here's a closer look at the front.
Choosing my colour palette was easy - I used the colours in the Carried Away
paper, which are watermelon wonder (base & balloon), night of navy
(balloon & sentiments), peekaboo peach (calendar mat & balloon)
& mint macaron (balloon).
I stamped the 'live, laugh, love' sentiment (Layering Love stamp set) directly onto the patterned paper in night of navy.
Do you love the love the intricate pattern of the balloon? It gives me happy memories of a hot air balloon I saw in Paris long ago. You may think it took ages to make the multi-coloured balloon? No! Thanks to SU cleverness, there are 6 dies that each cut a coordinating section, as you can see below.
I used card scraps to cut mine & cut a whole balloon in one pass of the Big Shot. Win!
Back to the calendar, here's a better view of the easel stand.
On the back I stamped an awesome brand new sentiment from the Balloon Adventures stamp set
(also available as part of the Balloon Adventures bundle). This set includes a
great choice of large birthday sentiments that I will use lots for the
inside of my cards
Finally, if you need to post a calendar, it folds flat & fits a regular card envelope.
If you'd like instructions to make this easel calender, leave me a comment & I'll prepare a tutorial if there's enough interest. In the meantime, you can see more of my easel cards here.

Check out this vid from Stampin' Up! At 30 secs in, you'll see how you can make multicoloured balloons like I did here.
So that's all from me for now. Remember to leave a comment if you'd like me to make a calendar tutorial & pin a pic for later inspiration too. Thanks for visiting today. Hope to share with you again soon.
