Last Christmas - large Envelope Punch Board box

After I posted the first Christmas gift packaging class project - a Festive Flurry snowflake in a box just before Christmas, the remaining class projects got lost in my post Christmas chill-out. I'm sharing them now otherwise they'll probably never see the light of day (or blog). While they're obviously Christmas themed, they could be easily changed for another occasion. Project two was this large gift box made with the fabulous Envelope Punch Board....& a fabulous bow made with our bow die (Holiday Catalogue).
The basic box was based on this fantastic video tutorial by Tanya Bell. I just needed to add the decoration. Why mess with a great idea - thanks heaps Tanya!  Here's a quick summary of the general instructions to make this box. Once you've made a couple, you won't need them & will be making all sorts of sizes.

Note: It's likely the  gorgeous bow die, Merry Little Christmas stamp & DSP used here WON'T be available after 31 January when the Holiday Catalogue ends, so please order them before then if you'd like them :-)

Basic Box Instructions
Cut card/paper Size:  12 x 12 inch sheet (30.5 x 30.5cm)

Finished box size:  5 1/8 x 5 1/8 x 2 3/4 inches (13 x 13 x 7cm)

Instructions

1.  Score & punch card at 4 inches on all 4 sides (using score line ruler), then turn over card & score & punch again at 4 inches. (blue lines in diagram). Normally you wouldn't need to turn-over the card like this, but this box needs a longer score than can be done in one step.

2.   Line up each score line with score guide (not ruler) & score/punch another score line on each side (green lines in diagram).

3.   Cut lines to form box tabs (shown in diagram).

4.   Fold in box sides & adhere, then box bottom. Top flap folds inside box.
This diagram shows the cut line (red) & score lines (green & blue) - click on pic for larger version.
Thanks for visiting & let me know if you have any questions about the box instructions or anything else.  I have to take a break now, so I'll share the final class project next post.
Inky wishes, Di

SAB sneak peek - Good as Gold card & post-it

Sale-a-bration (SAB) is just 4 days away so today I'm sharing a sneak peek of an awesome SAB kit that you can choose FREE when you spend $90 during Sale-a-bration (28 Jan - 31 March).
The 'Good as Gold' kit includes everything you need to make 8 cards, including envelopes & liners - all with a trendy touch of gold. Here's the card, as designed by Stampin' Up! - can you see the shiny spots of gold?
The sentiments & flag end banners are all die cut, so you just pop them out. You'll actually receive 24 sentiment flags (8 each in English, French & German), which you can alter & use. The envelope liners are a fabulous gold foil (no pic), so I think I'll be re-purposing some of those in other projects too. I'll add a full pic of the kit contents to this post once Sale-a-bration is live on the 28th. See a pic of the full kit at the bottom of this post.

Then I thought..."What else can I make with the kit?" - a cute post-it note book! I was excited that a regular long post-it book fitted perfectly!
How to make post-it note book
1. Score the card  at 1cm & 10cm (in the same direction as the centre score already on the card).
If you work in inches, try scoring at a 1/2 inch & 4-1/8 inches.
2. Fold & flatten each score line. Adhere post-it pad to base (76mm x 127mm / 3 x 5 inch post-it)
3. Wrap gold elastic cord (from kit) around the note book & tie in a bow at the front. Secure it on the top with some sticky strip (where tape/glue will be hidden by decoration).
4. Attach the sentiment banner, thin coloured banner & gold banner as shown using dimensionals or tombow glue (or however you like).
5. Give it to a stationery loving friend.
Here's a closer pic of my post-it book decoration.
You could really easily step up both the card & post it note, but I decided to keep it simple - we all need quick & cute projects! I hope you like this sneak peek & are as excited as me about Sale-a-bration & our new Occasions Catalogue.
I've posted out Catalogues to all my regular customers, so they'll be arriving very soon. If you'd like a free copy of each, plus my new newsletter, just contact me with your details.
Back soon with lots more to share.
Inky wishes, Di

Happy New Year & a pretty sneak peek

Happy New Year everyone! It seems that Christmas & new year celebrations passed in the blink of an eye & now it's almost the middle of January.  I hope you all had a happy & blessed time. It's been pretty laid back at colourmehappy & my fam managed to sneak in a quick beach getaway.
I've also swapped over to a different computer which has been great & frustrating in equal parts. To celebrate finally being able to edit pics today, I'm sharing the pretty birthday card I made for Cathy, one of my Diamond Stamper team gals.... using some fab new sneak peek goodies coming your way on the 28th in our Occasions Catalogue. See if you can pick them.
Here's a closer look at the sentiment & pretty flowers.
How many new goodies did you pick? There are 4 - the Hexagon Hive thinlit die, Petite Petals flower set, matching punch (eek!) & DSP from a new stack sized pack (Fresh Prints). Don't you love them! This is one of my fave colour combos too.

There's so much I know you'll love in both the Occasions Catalogue & Sale-a-bration Catalogue, so you MUST get a copy. Contact me if you'd like a free copy & I'll pop them in the mail shortly.
Thanks very much for visiting. If you have any questions about my card, just leave me a comment.
Inky wishes, Di
