Tasty Trucks hidden pull tab card - 3 days left to Sale-a-brate

Can someone please explain how it got to the end of March already? Sale-a-bration ends in less than 3 days and I feel I've barely gotten to play with my freebies, or share what I have made

Anyway, today I have a fun pull slider card to share using the free Sale-a-bration Tasty Trucks stamp set, that even my teen daughter thought was cool, (#shocked), so I hope you like it too.

See that little arrow on the right? Pull the tab & the little truck drives happily across the card revealing a birthday message too.

I got the idea & instructions for the pull tab slider card  here on the truly awesome Jennifer McGuire's blog, & had to try it using my Stampin' Up goodies. Tasty Trucks immediately came to mind so I went to work. I pretty much followed Jennifer's instructions, except I used the SU classic Label punch to make my hidden pull tab slider channel & SU adhesive foam strips to encase the tab.
If you'd like more info on this, leave a comment & I'll consider doing a tute if there's interest.

All the images I've used are in the Tasty Trucks stamp set. It's full of punny goodness for all sorts of occasions. See all the images at the bottom of this post. Here's a closer look at the images I used.

I used my new SU Watercolour Pencils, together with a blender pen to colour the truck. I really need much more practice with these, as I've never really used watercolour pencils before, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

I (of course) sponge brayered a background for the truck using soft sky & calypso coral ink, adding some clouds from the Lift Me Up stamp set (get the bundle though - the dies are fantastic too).

So where's the cake? It's on the inside. I used the Sprinkles of Life set

So, what do you think? Fun? I think this little truck will be fun for all sorts of projects & I'm definitely trying the pull slider again. Here's a final collage pic for you to pin for later inspiration.

Sale-a-bration ends on March 31st

JAI 352 colour challenge - More balloons

Friday means a new challenge at Just Add Ink & Nikki has given us a colour challenge using tempting turquoise, flirty flamingo & smoky slate.

I can't think of the last time I used tempting turquoise, but it's been a long time - not because I don't like it, but I just get distracted by others. Happily, it turns the colours play really nicely together. This is what I made.

I started by clear heat embossing a sentiment from the 'Big On Birthdays' stamp set. Have you checked this one out yet? It has lots of large sentiments that make a statement on card fronts or insides. Check it out below in the supply list.

I used my aquapainters & good squeeze of juicy tempting turquoise & flirty flamingo ink from the ink pad lids to create an ombre watercolour wash on shimmer white cardstock.  I spritzed the whole sheet before adding the ink to help get the ink moving around & applied additional layers until I was happy with the colour. I trimmed down the watercolour card,  cut strips off each side for a bit of extra interest & mounted them on foam strips.

Let's talk balloons - I have no desire to go up in a hot air balloon but I seem to be continually reaching for the Lift Me Up bundle stamp & when making a card, based on my current stash of cards. They're just so fun to arrange on a card & work well for all sorts of cards & peeps. The silver glimmer on the large balloon added some fun.
I kept it simple on the inside, with more balloons & another sentiment from Big on Birthdays.

So, colour challenge done!  I hope you'll try this combination. I think you'll love it too. Pop over to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the great ways the team have used it too.

Back soon with more ideas to share.

Inky wishes
Di
