Happy Birthday, Gorgeous - easel too

If today's cards look familiar, it's because I gave my seaside easel card (from the JAI362 colour challenge) a couple of mini makeovers. I love seeing how a simple change can create a different look & hope you do too. First up is this birthday card.

I used dapper denim for the base & happy birthday sentiment, which gives more contrast against the seaside panel and a more masculine look.

The brilliant adirondack chair from the Seasonal Layers die set (cut with regular card & backed with the thick card that backs our paper packs) is popped it up on dimensionals.

I also stamped each of the sections in full strength ink, rather than stamping off, as I did on the original. You can see the difference this makes here when you see both card fronts together.

Easel Card Too

I really liked the boldness of the dapper denim birthday sentiment, so I changed up the original easel card for my Happy Birthday, Gorgeous class. Here's how it looks flat.

and with the easel popped up.

We brayered & stamped this one on shimmery white card & it gave such a lovely look. I also changed the bottom panel to include more sponge brayered peekaboo peach to coordinate with the sand at the bottom of the front. I added a banner (popped up on dimensionals) to make the easel easy to stand up.

So what do you think about the changes? I hope you've enjoyed seeing these variations & hope they give you some ideas. Thanks for visiting today. I'll be back soon with some other easy ideas to change up a look using Happy Birthday, Gorgeous.

Inky wishes, Di

Happy Birthday Gorgeous

If you didn't know it already, the brilliant, scripty Happy Birthday die is an absolute essential new addition to everyone's die collection. Teamed with its bundle buddy, the Happy Birthday, Gorgeous stamp set, it's even more fun.

Today's cards show them together, in two variations of the same design, using three new in-colours - fresh fig, berry burst & powder pink. I cannot stop using them together. Love!

First up, is the original - a make & take from my SU Diamond Stampers team day.

I'm really enjoying making text backgrounds using stamps. This time I kept it simple, using a fun happy birthday image from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous in powder pink.

The largest stitched circle is getting a work out with the birthday die. I included a vellum scallop circle behind this one.

Version two is a project from my Happy Birthday, Gorgeous class.

For this one, I swapped the text background for a super easy ombre background using berry burst paper from the Colour Theory stack.

Now, let's talk balloons - Happy Birthday, Gorgeous includes two balloon stamps that can be punched out with the smaller balloon shape of the Balloon Bouquet punch - hooray indeed! I've used them together & separately here. Don't they look great?

You'll notice that the outline punches out very close to the image edges, which I love. You might also notice that I changed the balloon & sentiment placement slightly on this version so the balloons seem to be attached to the flourishy y in happy. Little things like this make me happy too.

I kept the inside simple, but coordinated using two more sentiments from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous,  & another balloon.

I think that's all I have to say about the cards except to ask, which one's your favourite? I can see a bunch of these in lots of different colour combinations.

Thanks heaps for visiting today & hope you enjoyed the cards. Leave me a comment if you have any other questions about them. I'll be back soon with more.

Inky wishes, Di
