JAI 352 colour challenge - More balloons

Friday means a new challenge at Just Add Ink & Nikki has given us a colour challenge using tempting turquoise, flirty flamingo & smoky slate.

I can't think of the last time I used tempting turquoise, but it's been a long time - not because I don't like it, but I just get distracted by others. Happily, it turns the colours play really nicely together. This is what I made. 

I started by clear heat embossing a sentiment from the 'Big On Birthdays' stamp set. Have you checked this one out yet? It has lots of large sentiments that make a statement on card fronts or insides. Check it out below in the supply list.

I used my aquapainters & good squeeze of juicy tempting turquoise & flirty flamingo ink from the ink pad lids to create an ombre watercolour wash on shimmer white cardstock.  I spritzed the whole sheet before adding the ink to help get the ink moving around & applied additional layers until I was happy with the colour. I trimmed down the watercolour card,  cut strips off each side for a bit of extra interest & mounted them on foam strips.

Let's talk balloons - I have no desire to go up in a hot air balloon but I seem to be continually reaching for the Lift Me Up bundle stamp & when making a card, based on my current stash of cards. They're just so fun to arrange on a card & work well for all sorts of cards & peeps. The silver glimmer on the large balloon added some fun.

I kept it simple on the inside, with more balloons & another sentiment from Big on Birthdays.

Perfect Mix for a sweet birthday

My dear friend & fellow teamie, Kellie, loves to bake so I couldn't resist getting the Perfect Mix stamp set (new in the Occasions Catalogue) to make her this fun birthday card, back in February.

This stamp set includes lots of fun baking images and punny sentiments for different occasions - I stamped, fussy cut (sadly no matching dies) & watercoloured the baking images with a mix of our brand new watercolour pencils (wowsa, Stampin' Up! colours in a pencil) and ink pads.

I teamed the Perfect Mix images with stamped & die cut sentiments from the equally yummy Sweet Cupcake - Cupcake Cutouts stamp & die bundle. How well do they work together?

JAI 350 sketch challenge - soft florals & gingham

It's time for a sketch challenge this week at Just Add Ink & Chantell's given us this very flexible sketch to play with...

...and this is what I made.

I liked the subtle combination of the neutral gingham & flowers (dies from the Special Reason - Stylish Stems stamp & die bundle from the Occasions Catalogue), teamed with a pop of colour for the banners. I'm always tempted to add some layers, but held back on this one to keep it very simple. Technically the sketch doesn't have elements where the flowers are, so I used the same sahara sand from the gingham paper to keep them subtle. (loving the Succulent Garden paper pack). I couldn't resist adding some Wink of Stella for subtle sparkle though (#cantstopthesparkle).

ETA: Just adding a pic of the inside. Again very simple but it carries over the theme.
