More Sweet Cupcakes

Today I've some more yummy cupcake cards to share with you, made at the same time as these Sweet Cupcake cards too. They look so delish I wish they were real, but on the plus side, no calories & they last much longer.

Simply Stylish

This card is the result of a serendipidous moments where a chance pairing ended up in a new colour combo & simple card I love.

What's what
- Stylised Birthday single stamp sentiment just makes me so happy - simple, a great font, large image & can be used for pretty much everyone.
- Cardstock - Who knew watermelon wonder & peekaboo peach would look & sound so yummy together (base & mat).Try it!
- Cupcake - Bet you didn't pick So Saffron, Blushing Bride & Flirty Flamingo. The last layer of so saffron changed the pinks to a lovely coral colour - another happy find. I added a little Flourish thinlit flower & bling for a little more yum. Here it is up close.

I kept it simple but coordinated on the inside with a white panel cut with the wish die from the Sweet Cupcake bundle & another little flower.

Bold Stripe Birthday

Black & white striped paper from the Pop of Pink dsp pack adds a bold, modern look to this card.

What's What
Cupcake - rose red, blushing bride & pink pirouette work well for cupcake frosting, combined with crumb cake & soft suede (stamped off) case.
Banner - The banner & sentiments are 2 separate stamps from the Birthday Banners set. I love that that the straight happy birthday photopolymer stamps can be bent to fit the curved banner stamp - clever! See the set below in the supply list.
Pop it! - the banner & cupcake are both popped off the paper with dimensionals. You can see the dimension better in this pic.

And a final close up of the cupcake.

So, which one would you like to receive? Leave a comment to let me share which & why.
Thanks for visiting today. Come back soon to see what's new.

JAI 321 Just add paper piecing... & bears

Friday means new challenge day & this week the lovely Patrice has asked us to Just add paper piecing. A bit tricky to say 3 times fast but a fun technique. I decided to paper piece a sunburst pattern landscape scene for this bear family & their new cub.

After a few recent bear projects you may be thinking I have a bit of a bear obsession & I think you're may be right. You might be surprised that my bear family are actually made with our new fox builder punch, part of the Foxy Friends stamp set & punch bundle. Cool, I know! Here's a closer look.

I've been playing around making lots of different animals with the fox builder punch & found this gorgeous baby card by Nicole Kunzig- oh the cute!
This is what I used to bear-ified the fox. You can see & order all the punches in the supply list at the bottom of this post.

Adult bears
- head - trim pointed ears into curves.
- hand-cut muzzle
- Punch nose
- Body
- Stamp paws (Foxy Friends set) & punch with medium owl eye circle (owl punch)
- stamp eyes - (Foxy Friends set)
* Mum bear also has a little flower on her ear (tree builder punch)

Baby Bear
- head - trim pointed ears into curves - smaller than adult bear
- stamp eyes & nose (love these face stamps!)
- Body piece - cut off lowest curve to make smaller body
- Stamp paws on body

But back to the paper piecing challenge. I used pool party, marina mist, pear pizzazz & wild wasabi dsp's from the Subtles 12x12 stack to make a sunburst landscape scene for my bears. Since I needed the text print to line up I used my my sunburst template - find it here. I cut the blue pieces & the template together & green pieces together after lining up the text. I sponged all the edges in crumb cake (& made a slight boo boo with soft suede - close your pads after use, people!).
I added some vellum in front to soften the effect to help the bears take centre stage.

Btw, did you notice my little mountains?  I thought my bears needed some rocky mountains (since I always associate real bears with Canada) so I stamped the Foxy Friends tree image in crumb cake, trimmed it & added a tail tip punch piece & voila - snow capped mountain!
And the bush behind the adult bears - from Thoughtful Branches - coming in August!

Anyway, that's all I need to say. I hope you enjoyed my paper pieced & punched card. Head over to the Just Add Ink blog, see all the team's fab pieced projects too & try some piecing of your own. We'd love to see what you make.

Thanks for visiting today & always. Leave a comment if you have any questions or need anything else. I'll leave you with a collage pic to pin if you'd like. Hope to see you here again soon.
