Tidings of Christmas - 8 one sheet wonder cards

Set of 8 Quick and easy handmade Christmas cards - using Stampin Up Tidings of Christmas paper and Words of Cheer stamp set and bundle. Cards by Di Barnes - Independent Demonstrator in Sydney Australia - 2021 holiday christmas mini catalogue - colourmehappy - sydneystamper - stamps ink paper

Hello & welcome! Today I have not 1 but 8 Christmas cards to share with you. How did this miracle occur?

Earlier in October, our Stampin' Up! South Pacific Development Managers hosted a online Craft-a-long-a-thon event for Demonstrators in Australia & New Zealand. It was such a fun afternoon with lots of great ideas & many laughs.

One project we worked on was a set of quick and easy set of 4 cards using a One Sheet Wonder technique by cutting up a piece of patterned paper and card into simple shapes to make 4 different designs.

Making Christmas cards was an easy choice as I'm determined to get lots made & ready to send by December 1st. I chose a pretty paper print from the Tidings of Christmas pack as my starting point.
I chose to use the Words of Cheer stamps & dies bundle for my sentiments instead of a punch - as you well know I'm obsessed with the 2 layer happy die.

Once I'd made one set I had to make another using a different print in the Tidings of Christmas pack. Here's the whole set (click on pics for larger view).

Card Colours: Set 1 - Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, plus vellum
Ink: Evening Evergreen and Cherry Cobbler

Basic Supplies for each set of 4 cards:

  • Card bases: 2 x A4 sheets - cut in half as for regular card base
  • Patterned Paper: 6 x 6 inches
  • Cardstock - Half A4 sheet
  • Scraps for sentiments (& punched shapes if using)
  • I used additional scraps to cut my 'happy' die cuts
  • Embellishments - rhinestones and ribbon

Here's how each set of 4 turned out: first with a white based paper print teamed with Cherry Cobber matting.

And my second set using an Evening Evergreen print teamed with Soft Succulent matting.

Most of the design layouts work equally well whether made in portrait or landscape. Let's take a look at each design and colourway.

Design layout A has a single strip of patterned paper 1-1/2 inches wide, with 1-3/4 inch wide mat.

Design layout B - has a bit of a polaroid feel with a long rectangle card piece and square paper piece. I mixed & matched sentiment colours and placement for a bit of variety.
Card: 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inches
Paper: 3 x 3 inches

Design layout C - Cut a 1-1/2 wide paper strip into 4 squares pieces.

You can use all 4 squares of same paper pattern as I have here, mix and match 2 of each side, or use 3 plus 1. It's hard to see in the pic but on the white pattern print I popped up the bottom right square to support the 'happy' die cut.

Cut a 1-1/2 wide strip into 4 x 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 inch pieces

Card: 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inches
Paper:  4 pieces 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches

Design layout D - This design uses 3 of the same pieces of paper, plus 3 matted pieces.
There are so many ways to use these. I created a random background with the strips. For the second version, all 3 pieces are matted and lined up. I think this works well with the 'happy' die cut.

You'll cut these pieces at the same time you cut the 3 inch square for design B

Card: 3 pieces 3-1/4 x 1-1/4 inches
Paper: 3 pieces 3 x 1 inches

This is the cutting template we used for each design, which we were provided by the Stampin' Up! team.

Here's a final look at the 4 pairs of card together listing which cutting design used.

Oh my! These are absolutely gorgeous! What a nice way to get a lot of cards done at once. I love the colors and layouts. With your permission (and acknowledgement, of course), may I case and possibly use part of your layout for my Christmas Open House? Doing a smaller "stamp a stack" might be a nice change for me. Love these! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Bobbi. Definitely very useful for Christmas creating. Of course you can case them. All the best with your stamp a stack.
