Hello & welcome! Today I'm sharing my card for Just Add Ink challenge no 613 - a colour challenge using Mint Macaron, Fresh Freesia, and Starry Sky.
I've made a card featuring the sweetest little dancing hippo in the Hippest Hippos free Sale-a-bration stamp set. I thought she'd look very pretty in the challenge colours and I'm so loving colouring theme hippos, so any opportunity to use them works for me.
Who says hippos need to be grey? Not me. I think she looks lovely coloured with Mint Macaron and Fresh Freesia Stampin Blends. I also added a touch of Wink of Stella. Every hippo needs some sparkle.
I started by cutting out a circle from the card front (Stylish Shapes dies) and backed the panel inside with vellum, so Ms Hippo has a lovely translucency around her. The vellum look was really hard to photograph & with the wet and dull Sydney weather this week.
Like any star Ms Hippo has her own stage (cut out with the bath die in the coordinating Hippos dies set (curved out to create dimension) from In Color patterned paper in Starry Sky and a curved die from the Basic Borders die set. The funky little flowers are from the Hippos die set & I added Iridescent Pearls to the centres.
The sentiment is of course from the Happiness Abounds bundle which regular visitors know is one of my current faves. The banner is also from Stylish Shapes die set.
Inside is another sweet little hippo. The detail is all at the bottom so it can't be seen through the vellum front.
So that's my challenge card. I loved using this colour combination so I hope you'll try it too. Head to the Just Add Ink blog to see all our team projects for more inspiration to get you started.
Before I finish, take a closer look at all the stamps and dies in the Sale-a-bration Hippest Hippos stamp set and Hippos dies.
There are so many options to accessorise and design with.
The Hippest Hippos stamp set and Hippos die set can each be earned free with a $90 purchase (before shipping) during July and
August - while supplies last only. Please don't wait to order though if you
want these cuties as they're sure to sell out.
Shop all the supplies I used to make the card from my supply list here in my Stampin' Up! store.
Watch out for more hippos soon too as I used them for my last in person class too.
Until next time, happy stamping!
PS: I've added a quick video of my sweet little ballerina card so you can better see it and the effect of the vellum window.

Totally adorable! What a great idea to use the bathtub as a stage, and the vellum window looks fabulous.
Thanks so much, Tina. Just love those hippos & the colour combo.
