Welcome to a new year of Just Add Ink challenges and a fun full team blog hop to celebrate. You may have arrived from the lovely Ann Alexander's blog or some other way. In any case, hello and I hope you enjoy my projects.
This challenge and hop theme is to Just Add Something New. I'm fortunate to have some beautiful Stampin' Up! goodies from the new Wildflower Birthday suite so I've chosen to use it to make some birthday cards - we all need lots of them, right? I've also been playing around with an idea to use a simple layout to make multiple cards with different looks using folds or cuts. So take a look at 4 different cards with the same layout used in different ways.
This is the basic layout I started with. A simple base split into 2/3 and 1/3 sections. I'm in Aus where we use A4 card and metric measurements. So my card front has a 7cm wide section and a 3.5 cm section and a height of 14.8cm. The focal elements can be added anywhere on the card. Mine all go over the dividing line between the two sections
Anyway, take a closer look at each card and see how I changed up the layout.
All cards use the Wildflower Birthday paper and die cut pack, and the Birthday Celebrations stamp set (also available as a bundle) to keep them simple and cost effective
CARD 1
Card 1 uses the layout at it's simplest. 2 pieces of patterned paper adhered to the standard card front to make the layout. Then a tag and pieces from the paper pack add detail. The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy. Inside is a coordinating sentiment and another paper strip to carry the theme.
CARD 2
For this one, I cut the section on the right off the front, and attached the paper piece to the same spot inside. This adds lots of interest for little extra effort. A simple sentiment panel and fab die cut cake adds the focal point.
CARD 3
For card 3 I created an asymmetric gatefold card using the sketch layout.
I scored 7cm from the left edge, and 3.5 cm from the right edge. This has a similar look to card 2 except that the right panel now opens up for more decorating possibilities. I used the same strip from card 2
CARD 4
My final card has the same gatefold as card 3, but I've built the design around a tag, balloon die cut and stamped sentiments. I used the same papers for both sides of the front. The inside is stepped up with another tag, paper and more paper strips.
I so enjoyed playing with the Wildflower Birthday papers. The foiled paper and prints are so lovely, and suitable for many occasions. Not just birthdays. I consciously didn't use the fab dies in the Birthday Celebrations bundle as I was trying to keep this new crafter and budget friendly. You're going to see lots more of the whole suite so watch for that.
Thanks so much again for visiting, and hope to see you again soon.
Now it's time to head to the amazing Kim Badelt's blog for a beautiful project and your next stop on the blog hop.
PS: More about the supplies I used
The main decorative supplies are pictured below. The card bases are Thick Basic White card. I used scraps of Pretty in Pink and Pool Party card too, and Night of Navy ink pad. Current 24-26 In Color gems and retired iridescent rhinestones provided some pretty bling. You'll find all these supplies here in my store. Click on the pics to view details.
Happy stamping
