JAI 576 challenge - Christmas pop up slider with Words of Cheer

Handmade pop up slider card using Stampin Up Words of Cheer stamp set and bundle, Stampin Blends markers & Tidings of Christmas paper. Card by Di Barnes - Indpendent Demonstrator Stampin Up in Sydney Australia - colourmehappy - sydneystamper - 2021 mini catalogue - 2021 annual catalogue
Hello & welcome to another project share., I'm here with my latest Just Add Ink challenge Design Team card. This week we've been challenged to add a moving element. So many choices!

I started by choosing to make a pop up slider card as my moving part. They look like a regular card when closed but give a pop up surprise. I've made lots of these over the years and thankfully wrote a tutorial last time so I didn't even have to re-figure out the measurements. Win!

I just got the beautiful Words of Cheer stamp set and die bundle too so that was an easy choice. A floral Christmas pop up slider card it is.

Here's how it looks closed.

Last Christmas - Ornaments, boxes & today's deal!

Since it's getting close to Christmas time AND some of the main goodies I used are on sale today only, here's a quick blitz of love for my fave Christmas ornaments ever, with some projects that didn't make my blog last Christmas. Make sure you check out the savings at the bottom of the post before you go.

Gift Box & Ornament Tag with Reindeer jar

First up, here's a sweet Christmas gift idea for friends, teachers & anyone who loves a reindeer or a cute box.

I made these for my SU team last Christmas. The box was super quick to make with the Gift Box Punch Board & is stepped up with a beautifully detailed ornament tag made with the
Delicate Ornaments die set & Christmas Greetings die set. Here's another version.

Reindeer Jars

The sweet little reindeer jar was based on this cute reindeer card by Carolyn Bennie. I thought he'd be perfect to dress up a jar of treats. I included a hanging enamelled metal Christmas tree ornament.

The reindeer is so easy to make with circle punches (2, 1, & 1/2 inches) & the tree builder punch. I used corrugated kraft card & red foil, which is sadly no longer available, but our 12x12 kraft card & red glimmer paper would work just as well too.

I got the jars from Ikea  & the enamelled metal ornaments from Kmart. year, I spied the ornaments again last week in Kmart if you'd like some.

Ornament Pop Up Slider Card

I made this card with my class lovelies last year but somehow missed sharing it here. It's the same as
size & basic design as this Christmas dove card I shared here too.

Pop up sliders are so much easier to make than they may look.  I don't have time to share a tutorial today but if you'd like me to share on how to make them, leave a comment to let me know.

I backed the ornaments in vellum so they look translucent when popped up. So easy with the outline & detailed ornament dies, & a punched circle does a great job on the back of the detailed circle ornament.

This is how it looks when flat. Pulling the tag lifts the sliding pop up panel & exposes the sentiment. Easier to post too! The sentiments I've used are retired but you could easily substitute them for others.

Easy ornament card

This card layout is so easy for fast cards. It's all about shine with the foiled vellum & foil ornament but would look just as good with just ink & card.

Here's the ornament up close.

So, if you love these ornament projects, do check out the special deals below, available today only.  Even if you miss the deal though, I'm sure you'll get a lot of use from these beautiful stamps & dies.

JAI 280 - Just add glimmer - Dove of peace pop-up slider Christmas card

It's new challenge time at Just Add Ink & this week the lovely Nikki has challenged us to Just Add Glimmer. No occasion says glimmer to me more than Christmas & glimmer also means a special card so this is what I made using some of my fave new Christmas goodies from the new Holiday Catalogue.
It's a pop-up slider card & my latest fancy fold obsession. My gorgeous friend Kellie showed me this one by Brianna Thompson with great tutorial & I was hooked. I converted Brianna's measurements to suit our Aussie A4 card, then used it with my class lovelies last month (a different design which I'll share with my template, next post). It looks tricky but it was really easy to do. The only cutting & scoring required is on the patterned paper piece.
Like most fancy folds, it starts off looking like a regular card...
...then pull up the ribbon, the dove pops up & reveals a secret panel & tag.
The pics don't show how glimmery the card is. The dove (& secret sentiment) is silver embossed, then coloured with a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen then attached with some silver thread swirls. It really shimmers in the light. The peace sentiment is red glimmer paper too. Maybe you can see the glimmer better in this pic (click to see a bigger pic).
Brianna's card didn't have an inside opening - I guess you'd write on the back panel - but I wanted to make a regular opening card so the recipient could leave it horizontal or hang it on a string (which is what I do at home). I think an unpopped version of the card would still look pretty. Anyhoo, here's what I did inside.
Well that's all for me for now. I hope you like my glimmery creation. Remember to check out all the team's creations here & join in with the challenge too

I'll share my other card & the template to make my A4 card version next time. Thanks for visiting today & come back soon. I'll leave you with a combined pic of the project to pin if you'd like. Leave a comment too if you've enjoyed my project or or if you have any questions about it.
Inky wishes, Di
