JAI 658 choose two challenge - colourful grove z fold card

Hello and welcome to my project share for the new Choose Two challenge at Just Add Ink. I suggested this week's challenge which is to use two elements from these three options - Scraps, Strips and Sequins.

I really love seeing what I can make with my leftover scraps and who can resist a sequin, so that's what I went with. Here's how my card turned out.

The card started with some beautiful die cuts of the forest scene in the Grove die set, left over from making this coastal scene card. Who can waste something so lovely? I wanted to try a different look to the last card so I thought trying a z fold card would be fun. Here's how it looks flat.

I started by making a basic z fold base using regular Basic White card instead of thick, since the Grove die would be cutting through two layers of card. Then I placed and cut the die over the folded front.

It actually cut like a dream. I wouldn't normally recommend two card layers but the white is so smooth, the die is so solid, and I was really careful to check it wasn't too thick to roll through.

Next step was to cut the front die cut layer down to fit over the base cut and added the Starry Sky layer behind with a little offset for a shadow effect. As it turned out, my front piece was a little out, but offsetting the layer a little worked.

I found the colourful retired striped paper in my scrap box too - the name escapes me though - and loved how it added a fun, graphic look to the die cut pieces. I completely covered the inside panel with it. I'll write a message on the back of the card which I backed with a white card layer. You could easily make your own striped background with strips of card - meeting the strip part of the challenge too. ;)

Finally it was time for a sentiment and some sequins and gems. My Love For You dies worked beautifully for the look I wanted. I cut the main layer in Starry Sky card to match the shadow, and backed it with vellum to help it stand out but keep the look soft. For you is such a useful sentiment for so many occasions. Finally, a soft, white bow adds some more softness.

Here's a final look at the card open so you can see the die cut z fold better.

So there you go. Many pics for a pretty simple card where the die cut and colour does all the work.
I hope you like it and that it gives you some ideas to try yourself.

Do head over to the Just Add Ink blog to see which Choose Two elements the team used and how they used them. You're sure to find lots of great ideas.

Thanks again for visiting. Let me know if you've enjoyed seeing my card or have any questions. Hope to see you here again soon.

Happy stamping and cutting!

Di

WOW!!! This is stunning! I used to be an SU! demonstrator years ago, they didn't have this gorgeous stuff when I was with them...I still use their paper religiously though. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog, I appreciate the time and the sweet words!
