JAI 607 Choose two challenge - Cup of Tea card & treats

Handmade tea and friendship card and decorated treat box made with Stampin Up Cup of Tea, Happiness Abounds stamp sets and bundles, Stylish Shapes dies, Butterfly Kisses paper. Card by Di Barnes - Indpependent Demonstrator in Sydney Australia - cardmaking - stamping - card challenges - colourmehappy

Hello & welcome. Today I'm sharing my Design Team project for this week's Just Add Ink Choose Two challenge suggested by... me!

I made a tea themed card for a friend using the Cup of Tea stamp set and bundle and new In Color Stampin Blends markers. I do love a cup of tea and of course time shared with friends is the best... and don't drink coffee (shocking I know to some of you). This card was inspired by some treat boxes I made for last weekend. Here's how the card turned out. See the projects that inspired it later in this post.

Oh So Succulent window box card & hexagon box

Today I'm sharing more sweet succulent projects using the Oh So Succulent stamp & die bundle. I'm still in shock that this lovely bundle is NOT carrying over to the new catalogue. It's so fun & easy to create stamped succulent clusters and lifelike versions too. These projects were class projects in March.

Window box tri-fold card

How cute would a sweet-sugarplum coloured house be? I don't think I could convince my darling man, but I can create pretty card versions at least.

I've created a vellum lined window & window box using the Hearth & Home die set then filled the box with pretty succulents. All line images are stamped in tip top taupe & solid stamped in mint macaron, sweet sugarplum, pear pizzazz, & sahara sand. I'm a huge agave plant fan too so I added a partial one on the ground to complete the scene. These are all 'clear Wink of Stella'd but hard to see in pic.

To make the tri fold base, I started with a full A4 sheet of sweet sugarplum card, cut it down to 15cm wide, then scored at 10cm & 20cms to make 3 panels. These measurements means the last panel is slightly smaller & folds perfectly back inside the card without overlapping the main fold.
On the middle panel I added a piece of the truly gorgeous Succulent Garden paper - another big fave (& a total bargain now  for just $11.55).

Opening the middle panel reveals more pretty succulents & plenty of space for a message.

and open, viewed from the back.

You know when you finish a card & it just makes you happy? This was one of those. :)

Succulent hexagon box

After catching the paper succulent bug with my succulent  pop up slider card, I wanted to share the fun with my class lovelies too. So I made this hexagon box decorated with succulents.

I just love hexagons - don't know why, I just do - so I was very excited to see the Window Box thinlits bundle I used to make them are carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue in June. The hexagon box base is made with crumb cake card, wrapped around with some more Succulent Garden dsp. I also cut a hexagon of white card to strengthen the lid to support the succulents. Here's another view.

Succulent Recipes
Large: 6 succulent dies (1 of each size) cut in mint macaron, sponged over with mint macaron ink & edges sponged in rich razzleberry ink
Medium mint: 5 dies (all except largest) cut in mint macaron, sponged in white &edges sponged in sweet sugarplum.
Medium sugarplum:
5 dies (all except largest) sponged in sweet sugarplum ink.
I burnished all succulent edges & centres to add dimension & separated the largest 2 layers with dimensionals.

So, are you a succulent convert yet? If you are, you'll be pleased to know that the Oh So Succulent stamp set & Succulents die set are each 20% off, & the Succulent Garden dsp is 40% off  during our Retiring List offers.

JAI 340 Just add gift tags & treat box

It's time for a new Just Add Ink challenge & this week Jan wants us to Just Add Gift Tags. A very timely challenge, since December is whizzing its way to Christmas & I'm fully in present mode. This post needs to be as quick as my project was to make, so here's what I made.

Let's talk tags first - I cut the basic tag from the largest of the Cheerful Tags dies. I cut 2 - one in white & one mint macaron - then glued them together & folded. I stamped the front with a fave 'Making Spirits Bright' sentiment from the Tin of Tags stamp set in real red (bet you can't stop singing Jingle Bells now) & 'With Love' on the inside in emerald envy.

I added a twist of fun with a punched Santa hat cut with the Jolly Hat builder punch (sadly retiring so get it now!) in real red card & dazzling diamonds glimmer paper. Super quick & easy & a fun addition to any punch art critter.

The box couldn't be quicker or easier to make - Just fold up a Clear Tiny Treat box, add a paper belly band (Presents & Pinecones dsp - also retiring & on sale). Finish off with some ribbon & a tag. I filled the boxes with Christmas Hershey's Kisses (found at Costco). You get 16 boxes in the Clear Tiny Treat Box pack for just $13.25. They're 5cm squares (or 2 inches), which surprisingly fits quite a lot.

So that's it for me for now. I hope my tag & treat box gives you some ideas for quick Christmas gifts. Check my supply list below for everything I used & to order through my store.

Lots more Christmas coming to share, so pop back again soon.

Inky wishes, Di
