JAI 523 Just add A - Appreciation

thank you card for moving home occasion, made with Stampin Up Coming Home stamp set and bundle, Trimming the Town paper and Stampin Blends markers. Card by Di Barnes, Independent Demonstrator in Sydney Australia - colourmehappy - sydneystamper - 2020 mini catalogue Stampin' Up!

It's time for a Just Add Ink letter challenge and we're adding something beginning with A.

I initially drew a blank. Usually I look for colours or stamp sets as my initial inspiration but that didn't work this time. Did you know there are no Stampin' Up! colours starting with the letter A? Nope! Next, stamp set names? - no A's. I did think of animals and have a card to share later, but top of the to do list was a thank you card... & another word for thank you - appreciation! Yay! This is what I made using the new Coming Home stamp set & die bundle.

Hello and welcome to our Stamping Sisters August Blog Hop and Tutorial Bundle launch.
This month we have 5 new project tutorials ready and waiting for you plus 4 more blog hop projects, all with the theme of Thinking of You. If you've arrived from the fabulous Ellen's blog, welcome!

People thinking about and taking care of one another is something we all need especially at the moment, whether it's just to let someone know they're on our mind or to help them through a significant challenge or loss. The world seems a little friendlier and brighter when we receive a card.

Whatever the reason, we hope our projects inspire you to send some paper love this month.
Here's a peek at the projects our Stamping Sisters Design Team have created for you this month.

Celebrate 17 birthday shutter card

Last week our darling girl celebrated her 17th birthday, and yes I'm as surprised as you are that she's 17 already. I thought she'd enjoy the surprise in a shutter card, so that's what I made.

Happy Mother's Day - Have a nice cuppa

Today's card share comes with the best of wishes to all the Mums, mums-to-be, Grandma's & Mum-like lovelies out there. Happy Mother's Day everyone. :)

I made this card with a lovely bunch of Mums at my ladies only classes last week & hope it's making someones day today, or soon for a birthday or just because. They don't come more girly than this, with soft, pretty colours, glitter, sequins, flowers & a dash of whimsy from the cup & teapot... & it shakes too :)
The cup & teapot are from the Cup & Kettle framelits die set, I'd been dying to use them in class since I got them but saved them up for Mother's Day as they're just so special & fun. To up the fun, I made the cup into a shaker, backed with some blushing bride glimmer paper.
The shaker was a breeze to make thanks to fantastic new thick foam strips we'll be selling in packs in our new Annual Catalogue (coming June 1st). You might remember we had these in our Christmas Shaker Card kit last Christmas & they were a big hit. The shaker is filled with clear, iridescent sequins I had left over from a Christmas bauble project. The little flower accents are of course from the Petite Petals stamp & punch bundle.

A special cup of tea needs a pretty teapot & the Cup & Kettle die set includes this cute one.
I lightly sponged the teapot edges, curved the edges & added the Mother's Day sentiment from Circle of Spring. Some of my girls used the birthday or for you sentiments in the set instead. One final touch - I flicked up the scallop circle edges for more interest.

On the inside, used the cup cut-out from the front to carry the theme - I so love that Birthday Bouquet paper. I also added a border drawn simply with a blushing bride marker.
So that's how it all came together. One final pic to show the dimension of all the different elements. This isn't the thinnest card to post but still very post-able.

More about the Cup & Kettle framelits & A Nice Cuppa
The Cup & Kettle framelits are currently available separately or bundled with the A Nice Cuppa stamp set bundle.  It's such a unique set of dies & useful for so many people & occasions This is what's included in each. I used it on this card but there are so many other possibilities.
Sadly these are not carrying over to our new Annual Catalogue so they're only available while stocks last or until the Occasions Catalogue ends on 31 May.
Also worth a reminder is that the gorgeous  Birthday Bouquet dsp & 1-1/4 inch scallop circle punch are also retiring & available while stocks last only too.
As of now, they're still all available to order in Aus (yay). See my store links below for links to see & order these items & all the supplies I've used today.

Thanks for stopping by today & I hope my card made you smile.
Inky wishes, Di

JAI 310 sketch challenge - birthday make-up compact card

Happily the stars aligned this week for me to use our new challenge sketch at Just Add Ink as inspiration for my darling girl's 15th birthday card. This is the sketch,
and this is my card
Bold, huh! This year, Miss C has become really interested in make-up so I thought it'd be fun to make a card that had something with a make-up theme. Then I saw the sketch & immediately thought to make a make-up compact - & definitely one with attitude & bling, as many of the funky make-up brands seem to have. I think you can see the sketch even though I took some obvious liberties with extra layers for my sunbursts. Here's a little more of a straight-in look showing off the fun & so easy sunbursts using the Sunburst Sayings die & stamp bundle.
and here's the compact, inside.
The make-up palette inside is made of 3 layers of 1 inch punch circles, adhered together, & made sparkly with clear Wink of Stella. I embossed 2 sentiments from Sunburst Sayings on vellum & adhered them to the top inside & added lots of bling. I adhered another layer of vellum over the make up palettes with a birthday message from Dad - I like him to write the message so cards include a bit of both of us - but I forgot to take a pic beforehand so can't share that pic.

Back to the base compact - the layers are cut with the 2 largest Circles Collection framelit dies (sadly on the retirement list). I've used 2 designs of the Shine On Speciality dsp for the main layers & a frame of silver foil - I'm still loving the combination of kraft & embossed silver & it's really sturdy so perfect for the base pieces. The front & back is attached with a piece of card adhered between the layers.

It was a tricky little project to photograph with the shape & shiny silver layers so here's one more go.

Well, I hope you liked my take on this week's sketch. Please pin my project if you do & leave a comment if you like more information. Then hop over to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the team's fun sketch ideas & try it yourself.
Back soon with another project
Inky wishes, Di
